UP-BEET BERRY SMOOTHIE BOWL

It’s no secret I LOVE a smoothie, especially in a bowl. It’s like having ice cream for breakfast! But unlike ice cream, this beetroot berry smoothie makes a great breakfast, full of delicious nutrients your body needs for a great day.

🥬Alkalising and oxygenating spinach
🍓Antioxidant rich berries
💪Lean protein
🌾Gut loving fibre from psyllium husks and fruit
🌰Healthy fat from almond butter

My favourite ingredients in this smoothie has to be beetroot. When I found out I had liver parasites, one of the first things I started including more of in my diet was beets. Why? Because despite staining every towel in my house, they’re:

* Blood cleansing
* Energy boosting (dietary nitrates improve the efficiency of your mitochondria a.k.a ‘the power house of the cell’ thanks A level biology)
* Anti-inflammatory
* High in fibre for digestion
* Great for liver health (help enzymes in your liver & increase bile production to aid digestion)

INGREDIENTS

Big handful spinach
¾ beetroot
Handful mixed frozen berries
1/3 of a frozen banana
Handful frozen courgette
1 scoop vanilla protein
1 tbsp psyllium husk
1 tsp berry powder
Enough nut milk to blend
(less liquid = thicker smoothie)

TOPPINGS

Berries
Coconut
Almond butter
Sprinkle of cinnamon

METHOD

  1. Add everything to a blender (I use a ninja) & blend.
  2. Pour into your bowl & top.
  3. Enjoy!
